One of my favourite things to optimise when a new client starts, top-level optimisations. These things are what Google sees first when they land on the client’s website. So, we need to make sure that we’re getting the message across to as what words we want to rank for as soon as possible.

  • After all keyword research has been done and approved by the client, we start off at the very top, the page URL. So, when we target the inner pages, we want to make sure that the URL of that page contains important search terms.
  • After that, we optimise the meta title, which is the next thing Google sees. The meta title is a text link of the results you see on Google.
  • After this, we then go to optimise the main heading, known as the H1 of that page, and then any secondary headings known as H2s.
  • After all this is done, then we look at optimising the actual content that is on your website.

A lot the agencies will try to be fancy and say that they need to look into some special content strategy when you start working with them, and then they let that drag on for a month or two before they even send it to you for approval and do any work on your website, and then you’re waiting even longer to get any type of result whilst they’re all gathered around in the office having Domino’s Pizza and done nothing on your website. Trust me. I’ve been in this industry for 15 years. I’ve seen it all.

A lot of the times, we shoot ourselves in the foot by getting results too fast, because customers sometimes think our job is easy. But would you rather wait three months plus to get any sort of result? Or would you want results ASAP and then we maintain those results? It may seem like a silly question but trust me, people sometimes get upset when you’re too good at your job and you’re able to do something that will take you one month as opposed to a bunch of rookies that will take six months and pretend to be busy.
