You’re not a web developer if you create a website with lot’s of tools and plugins

A good web design company will not damage your website with lots of tools and plugins

Video transcript below

Websites with heaps of plugins or apps and tools are really crap. If your web design company is telling you that adding all these plugins and tools to bring down development cost to give you a better price, they’re full of it, and they’re not proper web developers. We’ve seen and heard it all, even internally. When we found out one of the team members was saying it’s how websites should be built, we simply stopped employing them.

The issue with these plugins and tools is that they need to be updated regularly to prevent viruses. And to top it off, some of these plugins expect you to pay yearly or even monthly fees, or else they won’t work properly and won’t let you update them, which will make you vulnerable to virus attacks. These so-called “web developers” that build websites like this are not only rookies, but they also trap you into using their so-called support services, so you can pay them fees whenever you need assistance with their extra junk service fee add-ons. And more than half the time, they don’t even understand what is going on, so they request support from the plugin creators who are most likely on the other side of the world anyway.

Going back to what I said earlier, I remember when we were working with someone, they told us that because there conflict overseas, the plugin developers have to wait until things calm down. Mind you, the client was waiting. It’s not the client’s issue, it’s our issue. That’s not fair on the client. Let’s not forget about the virus risks I was also talking about earlier due to many of these random plugins. Some viruses will have you rebuilding the whole website, which is what happened to one of our clients.

This customer we are working with, before they were with another SEO company. They were paying for website support as their current SEO company built their website with a bunch of rubbish tools and plugins and got it developed overseas in India. On top of that, they charged a fortune for that website to be built, which is falling apart, as well as the Google rankings. To top it off, because there were so many plugins that weren’t updated, they caught a virus. We reached out to their SEO company at the time, and of course, they shrugged it off, saying there was nothing wrong with the website. In the end, we ended up onboarding the customer for SEO. We fixed their virus as well, and with some of our SEO magic, as you can see, their rankings jumped up by 458 positions.

Website virus returns due to mutiple tools and plugins

Everything was going well until the virus came back again due to all the crappy plugins that the website was built with. Rankings then dropped by 1,871 positions in just one month’s time. We have never seen such a drop before.

We fixed the virus again, it came back. We fixed it again, it came back. We even got our Brisbane hosting team to take a look. They fixed it, and it came back. No one could fix it. We were wasting time, we were wasting money, and the client was also losing money due to the lack of sales because it was making the Google rankings go down. It was three months, their rankings still dropping. Even though it was not our fault, we needed to take action as this is very unfair for the customer. So, essentially, we ended up building them a whole new website (for free) from scratch. The design was very similar, but we built the website in a different template and did not use so many plugins and tools like a rookie who built the website previously. Within a week, rankings jumped up by 2,279 positions, which is 400 positions higher than what they originally lost and still climbing.

Top rankings achieved after new web design and virus removal

So, Google is not only happy that the virus is gone, but due to a proper build, they were able to achieve over 400 rankings higher than before. They are now the number one website on Google for Pizza Ovens Melbourne.

So, if you have a website and notice there’s too much crap going on in the back end, give us a buzz. We’ll be more than happy to take a look. If you’re also looking to get a new website built, please also do not hesitate to get in touch.
